Rob Auchincloss is a founder, engineer, creative director, & explorer.

He is the founder of AFOCAL, an independent studio, where he has also founded & co-founded a half-dozen companies in the aerospace, energy, design, & consumer products sectors.

He also serves as Principal of Private Markets at legendary design firm COLLINS, where he aims to create a new home for deep tech startup creation, strategy, & implementation.

Additionally, he serves as the editor-in-chief and host of HOLOCENE, a magazine and podcast dedicated to exploring the human experience.

As former CTO of energy startup EDEN, CTO of material transformation startup ReCircled, VP of Product at climate think tank Vector Center, Head of Research & Development of retail consultancy XLT, & beyond, Rob has built an experienced career leading high-performing teams. He also currently serves as Director on the SCLI Board of Directors & is a member of the Dean’s Council for the ERAU College of Engineering, where he graduated with a degree in Aerospace Engineering in 2016.

As a part-time nomad, Rob dedicates his time outside of work to traveling the globe in search of the last remaining wild places on Earth.
